One-Stop System, please review the following questions and their answers. When you finish
reading this page, you will have a good idea of how we may best serve you.

Q: How do I file for unemployment insurance benefits?
A: Call 1-800-300-5616, or file on-line by clicking the link on the CalJOBS home page (www.caljobs.ca.gov), or visit your nearest Workforce Connection office, and staff will provide you with a form that can be filled out; they can also fax the form for you.

Q: Where is the nearest EDD representative?
A: We have two staff members in the Weed Workforce Connection office.

Q: Is Workforce Connection a “Temp” agency?
A: No. We assist in job search through EDD using the CalJOBS computer database for job seekers and employer job listings.

Q: How do I get a job?
A: You register on the CalJOBS web site and post your resume.

Q: Will you call me, or will employers call me about a job?
A: EDD may job-match your CalJOBS resume and contact you by mail. Employers may also find your resume on the web site [if you want employers to view your resume, be sure to avoid clicking the button that indicates that you     employers to view your resume]. We encourage job seekers to check the job listings on the CalJOBS web site at least once a week.

Q: What services do you offer?

A: Usually, it will take one hour for work registration and resume development.

Q: I want to change my career. Can you help me?
A: Workforce Connection offers a variety of software programs and on-line career assessment web sites which you may explore. EDD provides labor market information about careers that customers may want to investigate.

Q: Do you provide training?
A: Yes. Training services are designed to equip our customers to enter the workforce and retain employment. The services are based on the customer’s ability to meet eligibility program requirements and demonstrate a need for training. Your goal must be successful employment in a demand occupation.

Q: Can you assist with relocation?
A: Yes. Relocation services are designed to help our customers remain in the workforce. This service is based on the customer’s ability to meet eligibility program requirements. You must demonstrate the need for relocation.

Q: Do you offer GED preparation and/or testing?
A: Yes. GED preparation and/or testing services are made available to customers based on the customer’s ability to meet eligibility program requirements. You must demonstrate the need for these services.

Q: Will you pay for my GED testing?
A: Yes.

Q: How long does it take to go through the GED preparation course work?
A: The length of time to prepare will depend on the basic skills level of the customer and the amount of time the customer can commit each week to the lessons.

Q: Are there any other educational options besides GED?
A: There is enrollment in a charter school (to get a diploma), or you may test for the California Proficiency Exam (similar to the GED).
